Each of these is a starting structure. Replace the bracketed parts with your real situation, and delete anything that does not change the result.
Decision memo
Draft a one-page decision memo for [audience] recommending whether we should [decision].
Context: [situation, what has already been decided, what is at stake]
Material: [paste the data, quotes or documents]
Structure: recommendation first, then the two or three reasons, then the main risk and what would change the recommendation, then the next step with an owner.
Requirements: no more than one page. Mark anything you inferred rather than read in the material. If a fact needed for the recommendation is missing, say so instead of estimating it.Difficult email
Write an email of at most [length] to [recipient and relationship].
Situation: [what happened, whose fault, what has already been said]
Goal: [what you want the recipient to do or feel]
Requirements: acknowledge the specific problem, do not blame a third party, and state the concrete next step with a date. Do not offer compensation, and do not add facts I have not given you.
Format: subject line, then body, no bullet points.Meeting notes into actions
Turn the notes below into a decision record.
[paste notes]
Produce three sections:
1. Decisions made — only what was actually decided, with who decided it
2. Open questions — what was discussed without resolution
3. Actions — task, owner, deadline
If ownership or a deadline was never stated, write "not assigned" rather than guessing. Do not summarise discussion that led nowhere.
